Energy Dependence of the Pomeron Spin-Flip
نویسندگان
چکیده
There is no theoretical reason to think that the spin-flip component of the Pomeron is zero. One can measure the spin-flip part using Coulomb-nuclear interference (CNI). Perturbative QCD calculations show that the spin-flip component is sensitive to the smallest quark separation in the proton, while the non-flip part probes the largest separation. According to HERA results on the proton structure function at very low x the energy dependence of the cross-section correlates with the size of the color dipole. Analysing the data from HERA we predict that the ratio of the spin-flip to non-flip amplitude grows with energy as r(s) ∝ (1/x)0.1−0.2, violating Regge factorization of the Pomeron.

متن کاملProton-carbon CNI polarimetry and the spin-dependence of the Pomeron
Recent polarized proton experiments at Brookhaven National Laboratory are used as a basis for a model of the energy dependence of the analyzing power of proton-carbon elastic scattering. In addition to their practical value for polarimetry, the results of this analysis give constraints on the size of the Pomeron spin-flip coupling as well as information on the f2 and ω spin-flip couplings. This...

The impact of large-distance contributions on the behaviour of the slopes of the spin-non-flip and of the spin-flip amplitudes is analysed. It is shown that the long tail of the hadron potential in impact parameter space leads to a larger value of the slope for the spin-flip amplitude (without the kinematic factor √ |t|) than for the spin-non-flip amplitude. This effect is taken into account in...

In this paper, we calculate the spin-dependent conductance of ferromagnetic quantum wire in the presence of one or two defects by using Green's function method at the tight-binding approach. We study the effect of rotation of defect magnetic moment on the system conductance. The results show that in the magnetic wire, independent of existence or absence of defect, the allowed energy region shi...
